How Often Should We Empty Our Grease Trap?
It's a general rule of thumb that a trap should be emptied after it's one-fourth of the way full of FOGS (fats, oils, grease and solids). That may seem often, but after the trap has filled to that point it is no longer able to do its job effectively - meaning that the grease and oils you’re supposed to keep out of the pipes can start to escape. When your grease trap stops doing its job, your chances of a blockage or back-up begin to increase which can be major trouble for your restaurant.

Establishing a Maintenance Plan
Once you figure out how quickly your grease trap reaches "full" (one-fourth of the way full of FOGS) you can set up a regular maintenance plan with us. Most restaurants need to be serviced every one to three months. If you find your restaurant is filling up your grease trap faster than once a month, it’s probably time to look at getting a bigger grease trap to meet your business' needs.

There are various factors that can increase the cost of your grease trap/tank pumping and most can be avoided with regular maintenance.

Things that can lead to a more costly tank cleaning include:

  • Heavy solids
Heavy solids in your tank can increase disposal costs for us, and emptying a tank with built-up solids can mean we're on the job much longer than expected.
  • A blockage in the line
If your grease tank becomes too full, fats, oils grease and solids can cause a blockage in the line, requiring high pressure jetting to resolve. We're happy to provide same day jetting and 24/7 emergency service but it does come at a premium.
If you're looking for a grease pumper in Palmyra, PA don't hesitate to contact us today. Our goal is to make finding a price and scheduling your service as simple as possible! Whether your trap needs cleaned asap or you're just looking for more information, our team is happy to help.

We are excited to be offering new technology for Lancaster, PA sewer line repairs! Trenchless sewer repair is a method of repairing sewer pipes without destructively digging and removing large portions of flooring, foundation, and walls to expose the building’s pipes. Trenchless pipe repair structurally restores an existing pipe internally by using the failed or deteriorated pipe as a host, rather than by disruptive, costly trench digging. That's right - no digging required!
